Frank Caliendo, John Holmberg do their best Ron Wolfley impressions

Frank Caliendo and John Holmberg know the personality of 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station’s Ron Wolfley well.
Caliendo, who lives in the Valley, is a frequent guest on 98.7 FM’s Doug & Wolf. Holmberg is a local radio personality himself.
On the most recent CaliendoCast, the duo somehow went down the rabbithole of Wolf, the loveable co-host of the morning show on 98.7 FM and color voice of the Arizona Cardinals.
If you’ve never heard Ron Wolfley ( @AZcardinals analyst, former NFL player and radio guy), no need to look any further.
Some impressions are only funny if you know the person…this one works because Wolf is such a funny guy and character.

“He pulls his hat down so far,” Caliendo said. “He’ll be in the studio, and he’ll be like, ‘Basinonians, you have no idea how I love Kyler Murray!
“And his partner (Doug Franz) is trying to talk but (Wolf) can’t see.”
Caliendo and Holmberg know the Wolfisms. Holmberg said he imagines Wolfley addressing everyone as “David,” perhaps because of his booth-sharing duties during Cardinals games with play-by-play man Dave Pasch.
“I would leave my warrior princess wife for Kyler Murray,” Holmberg said. “David, if he came to my house right now, I tell ya, I would absolutely love him like he was my own, David. I would never let him go.
“Let’s go down to Paul Calvisi, who’s got a love letter from me to Kyler Murray and see if Paul can hand it to him and look at his reaction, David.”
Caliendo says his Wolf voice is sort of an altered Bill Walton impersonation. Holmberg decided Wolfley sounds like former Minnesota governor and former pro wrestler Jesse Ventura — if he had a cartoon dog.
“This is a prejunctatory absolutely unnecessary benafory of wordplay,” Holmberg said.
You can listen to the full portion of the Wolf-related impersonations on the podcast starting at the 1:04:00 mark below.
