Arizona Sports Franchise Power Rankings

Jan 26, 2011, 11:17 PM | Updated: 11:54 pm

One of the first things we hoped to accomplish here at
ArizonaSports.com was putting an end to the debate of which team is the
best in the state. Although it sounds like a simple question, we wanted to
take a truly comprehensive look at the various factors that come into play
about the success of a franchise.
With that in mind we developed a complex metrics that takes into account
eight of the most pertinent aspects of what makes a team popular. We then
did thorough research to find the information for every Valley team to
determine where the Arizona Cardinals, Arizona Diamondbacks, Arizona
State Sun Devils, Arizona Wildcats, Phoenix Coyotes and Phoenix Suns each
ranked.

Eight categories were taken into consideration with data ranging over a
four year duration. (Four years was determined as a parameter because of
the fact that Sports 620 KTAR became the Valley’s first true all sports radio
station in Phoenix in 2006.) These categories include: winning percentage
over a four year period, average attendance percentage over the past four
completed seasons, franchise value, postseason appearances over four
years, division and conference titles over last four seasons, all-stars over a
four year period, and average revenue earned per fan.
