Arizona Cardinals running back Kenyan Drake powered through the Cleveland Browns offense on Sunday, rushing 22 times for 137 yards and four touchdowns.
Drake was the first Cardinal to run for four touchdowns since Ronald Moore on Dec. 5, 1993.
For his performance, Drake was named the FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Week for Week 15.
“I told a couple of my coaches or anybody really that could listen that the room itself … we’re going to get two touchdowns at least,” Drake said on Burns & Gambo on 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station on Monday. “They interviewed me after the game and was like, ‘Yeah you said you were going to get two of them, how about four?’ And I was like, ‘Well, double trouble.’”
The running back has quickly gained playing time for Arizona since being acquired from the Miami Dolphins on Oct. 28. Drake has had at least 14 touches in every game since the trade. After bursting out for 162 total yards on Oct. 31, he quieted down, not again reaching the 100 mark until Sunday.
But Sunday, Drake exploded and got his first win of the season.
His performance earned him a player of the week award.
The FedEx Air Player of the Week was Drew Brees, who completed 29 of 30 passes and threw four touchdowns in the New Orleans Saints’ throttling of the Indianapolis Colts.
