The ASU Sun Devils aren’t done recruiting high-level talent from California, as wide receiver LV Bunkley-Shelton announced his decision to play college football at Arizona State during the Army All-American game on Saturday afternoon.

Bunkley-Shelton of Junipero Serra High School in Gardena, California is rated as a four-star recruit, according to 247Sports.

He is the No. 37 wide receiver in the country, and No. 22 overall player in California.

National recruiting analyst Greg Biggins compared Bunkley-Shelton to Julian Edelman of the New England Patriots.

“He’s a fantastic route runner and has excellent hands. He’s more quick then fast, but shows explosiveness getting in and out of his breaks,” Biggins said, adding Bunkley-Shelton is also very good after the catch.

The 2020 Arizona State class now features five of the top 25 recruits in California, the most in the Pac-12.

Sun Devil recruiting director/assistant coach Antonio Pierce explained the focus on California in a press conference on Dec. 18.

“Our home base is Southern California, no hidden agenda about it. It’s where the most talent comes from,” Pierce said. “When this program is rocking and rolling, that’s where they come from.”

Bunkley-Shelton joins four-star wide receiver recruits Johnny Wilson (No. 16), who flipped commitment from Oregon to Arizona State on signing day, Elijhah Badger (No. 23), and Chad Johnson Jr. (No. 60).

Wilson, Bunkley-Shelton and Johnson Jr. are from southern California, while Badger is from northern California.

247Sports has Arizona State ranked as the No. 4 class in the Pac-12, just behind Oregon, Washington and Stanford, and No. 24 in the country.
