Cardinals make roster changes, give offers

Mar 9, 2012, 8:12 PM | Updated: 8:17 pm

The Arizona Cardinals announced Friday the team has tendered one-year qualifying contract offers to restricted free agents Rashad Johnson, LaRod Stephens-Howling and Greg Toler.

The three are allowed to consult with other teams until April 20, but the Cardinals have the right to match any offer or receive a draft selection as compensation.

Stephens-Howling obtained a second-round tender, which allows Arizona to receive a second-round draft pick as compensation if another team extends an offer and the Cardinals decline to match that price. Johnson and Toler both received original round tenders, which give the Cardinals the choice of matching another team’s offer or receiving a draft choice from that team as compensation.

The Cardinals also gave offers to exclusive rights free agents Richard Bartel, Alfonso Smith, Ronald Talley and Brandon Williams, and have also re-signed A.J. Jefferson and Stephen Williams.
