The day after goaltender Antti Raanta was taken out of the game against the Carolina Hurricanes with a lower-body injury, the Arizona Coyotes recalled a goalie from the Tucson Roadrunners.
Ivan Prosvetov is joining the Coyotes, the team announced Saturday evening.
Prosvetov, 20, has an 11-3 record with a 2.38 goals against average and a save percentage of .931 through 15 games this season. He leads AHL rookie goalies in both metrics.
A Coyotes fourth-round draft pick in 2018, Prosvetov spent last season in the Ontario Hockey League. He went 36-11-1 while averaging 2.94 goals allowed and saved .910 of shots. He posted four shutouts and was named to the OHL Third All-Star team.
Defenseman Kyle Capobianco was assigned to the Roadrunners in a corresponding move.
Capobianco was called up to the Coyotes on Jan. 1. He was selected to the AHL All-Star Classic for the third year in a row.
With Raanta still ailing and goalie Darcy Kuemper out with a lower-body injury of his own, Arizona made a move for depth behind Adin Hill.
The Coyotes have a 25-18-4 record heading into Sunday evening’s game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
There are four games until the all-star break.
