Phoenix Rising FC has completed the sale of striker Adam Jahn to MLS side Atlanta United FC, the club announced on Tuesday night.

While the official fee was undisclosed, it was reported by The Athletic’s Jeff Rueter to be for $100,000.

“We want to thank Adam for an incredible year with Phoenix Rising,” Rising GM Bobby Dulle said in a press release.

“Adam is not only a fantastic player who gave everything he had every day to help lead the team to a record-breaking season during 2019, he is also a great person who represented our club with exceptional class in the community.”

Jahn was named to the 2019 USL Championship All-League First Team after scoring 17 goals (tied for fifth-most in USL) and notching five assists in 31 appearances (2,682 minutes). He, along with forwards Solomon Asante and Junior Flemmings, combined to score 54 goals last season, crowning AJF as the deadliest attacking trio in league history.

“A core component of our mission at Phoenix Rising FC is to develop and profile professional players to help them expand their careers domestically and internationally,” Rising Governor Berke Bakay said in the release. “As much as we would love for Adam Jahn to continue playing for Phoenix Rising, we immediately gave him the opportunity to speak with Atlanta United when they called us because he earned this growth opportunity.

“Atlanta was great to work with, and we are proud to see Adam return to Major League Soccer and compete for one of the elite clubs in North America. Adam will represent Phoenix Rising very well in Atlanta, and we wish him all the best.”

Jahn took to Twitter to thank and say goodbye to the Phoenix Rising faithful.

But the striker’s departure wasn’t the only transfer between the two clubs on the day.

Atlanta will be sending forward Lagos Kunga to Phoenix on a season-long loan with no rights to recall.

Kunga, 20, is a homegrown signing for Atlanta United and spent the last two seasons on loan to USL Championship clubs Atlanta United 2 and Memphis 901 FC, where he scored five goals and notched two assists in 53 appearances between the two sides.
