D-backs’ Archie Bradley tweets out photo after taking line drive to the face

There was a frightening moment in Tuesday night’s game at Chase Field between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies.

With one out in the top of the second inning, Rockies outfielder Carlos Gonzalez rocketed a line drive back at Arizona pitcher Archie Bradley.

The ball hit Bradley square in the right side of his face and the rookie pitcher stayed down for several minutes on the pitcher’s mound.

Bradley was taken to the hospital, but returned to Chase Field and spoke with reporters following the D-backs’ 12-5 victory.

“I guess it came off the bat at 115 miles per hour,” Bradley said. “After watching it, it could have easily got me in they or directly in the face. I’ve got to think the Lord above is watching over me.”

Bradley took to Twitter and sent a photo of his swollen face to one of his sports heroes from his native Oklahoma — Brian Bosworth.

Bradley is expected to make a full recovery, but appears headed for the 15-day disabled list.
