The No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NFL draft lived up to the hype this season as Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray was named the 2019 Associated Press Offensive Rookie of the Year.

The quarterback finished with 3,722 passing yards and 544 rushing yards on 5.8 yards per carry. He accounted for 24 total touchdowns.

His passing yards and rushing yards were the best among rookie quarterbacks in the NFL and he was the first rookie quarterback in three years to start all 16 games. It was the first time in franchise history a rookie quarterback started throughout the entire season.

Murray set franchise records for a rookie quarterback in passing yards, touchdown passes, completions (349), pass attempts (542), completion percentage (64.4), passer rating (87.4), 300-yard games (5), rushing touchdowns (4), and games with multiple touchdown passes (8).

He joins Cam Newton of the Carolina Panthers as the only rookie quarterbacks in NFL history with at least 3,500 passing yards and 500 rushing yards in a season.

Murray is the third player in Cardinals history to receive the honor, along with Ottis Anderson in 1979 and Anquan Boldin in 2003.

Under Murray and new head coach Kliff Kingsbury, the Cardinals finished the season with a 5-10-1 record, a two-win improvement from the previous campaign.
