Edgerrin James, who spent three seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday.

He was one of five players to be voted in this year: James, Steve Atwater, Isaac Bruce, Steve Hutchinson and Troy Polamalu.

James joined the Cardinals late in his career but rushed for more than 1,100 yards in two of the three seasons, accumulating 1,159 in 2006 and 1,222 in 2007. In 2008, he played 13 games and started seven, rushing for 514.

He was the primary running back in the Cardinals’ Super Bowl run, rushing 61 times for 236 yards and a touchdown over four postseason games.

James spent the bulk of his career with the Indianapolis Colts, where he became the franchise’s record-holder in rushing yards with 9,226, rushing touchdowns with 64 and rushing yards per game with 96.1.

Four times did James break the 1,500-yard rushing mark, including his 1999 season in which he was named Offensive Rookie of the Year. As a 22-year-old second-year player, James rushed for 1,709 yards.

Over his 11-year career, James rushed for 12,246 yards, which stands as the 13th-most in NFL history. His 80 rushing touchdowns is 20th in league history.

James posted to Instagram to celebrate his election into the Hall of Fame.
