Pro Football Focus published a two-round mock draft and had the Arizona Cardinals spending both picks on the offensive side of the ball.

With the No. 8 overall pick, Arizona selected a familiar name in Georgia offensive tackle Andrew Thomas.

In the second round, Arizona went with running back D’Andre Swift at No. 40 overall, pairing the Georgia teammates at the next level with the Cardinals.

The selection of Swift at running back for Arizona would add to the overall salary cap hit at the position with David Johnson set to make $14 million in 2020.

The team could also re-sign free agent Kenyan Drake and still has Chase Edmonds too.

Should Drake sign, Swift would be the fourth running back under contract.

The Cardinals may very well choose to part ways with David Johnson and his inflated $14 million cap hit in 2020 (although it won’t be easy to do). Swift has similarly exceptional receiving skills after hauling in 73 catches for 666 yards in his three years at Georgia. – Pro Football Focus

Conversely, Cardinals general manager Steve Keim told Doug & Wolf on 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station on Friday that cutting Johnson was “not an option” which would mean that Johnson could still be moved via trade.

Thomas a regular name to appear as an offensive tackle option in ArizonaSports.com’s 2020 NFL Mock Draft Tracker.

The Cardinals have reportedly agreed to a contract extension with left tackle D.J. Humphries but still have a need to fill at right tackle with Marcus Gilbert as a free agent and Justin Murray as an exclusive rights free agent.
