Most Major League Baseball fans in the Valley had to wait one more day to get their first taste of spring training baseball as rain showers canceled or postponed six of the eight games on Saturday.

The Los Angeles Dodgers vs. San Francisco Giants game at Scottsdale Stadium got underway at 3:30 p.m. after being pushed back twice due to the rainfall.

The Oakland Athletics vs. Chicago Cubs game at Sloan Park in Mesa also had its first pitch moved back and started at 6:10 p.m.

Games featuring the Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Colorado Rockies, Texas Rangers vs. Milwaukee Brewers, Seattle Mariners vs. San Diego Padres, Cincinnati Reds vs. Cleveland Indians, and Los Angeles Angels (split-squad) vs. Chicago White Sox were all canceled.

The Los Angeles Angels (split-squad) vs. Kansas City Royals contest was rescheduled for March 6.

It was a historic day of rain in the Valley, as 1.03 inches fell at Sky Harbor International Airport as of 5 p.m. That total breaks the previous record on this day of 0.45 inches.

Valley baseball fans won’t have to worry about rain washing out their spring training fun on Sunday, as the forecast calls for sunny skies and a high of 67-degrees.
