The Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies added a spring training game between the two organization’s top prospects.
Scheduled for March 23 at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick, the D-backs outfield will consist of 2019 first-round draft pick Corbin Carroll, 2018 second-round draft pick Alek Thomas and Arizona’s top-ranked prospect Kristian Robinson, according to MLB Pipeline.
Arizona has steadily built its farm system through Mike Hazen’s tenure as general manager, especially since 2019.
In 2019, Keith Law ranked the D-backs farm system eighth in the MLB. This year he moved them up four spots to fourth.
FanGraphs ranked the D-backs prospects seventh-best in July, Bleacher Report ranked them third in August and MLB.com ranked them as the second-most-improved group in January.
First baseman Seth Beer, catcher Daulton Varsho, and pitchers Jon Duplantier, Levi Kelly, Matt Tabor and J.B. Bukauskas also add depth to the group.
Pitchers for the game have not yet been announced.
The Rockies boast a trio of first baseman prospects among their top five as ranked by MLB Pipeline. None have been confirmed or ruled out of the game.
First pitch is slated for 1:10 p.m.
