The Arizona Diamondbacks continue to trim the spring training roster and are down to 48 players after making seven roster moves on Sunday.

Pitchers Taylor Widener and Riley Smith were optioned to Triple-A Reno, while five more players were reassigned to Minor League camp.

Infielders Seth Beer and Pavin Smith, outfielder Ben DeLuzio and pitchers Eduardo Jimenez and Miguel Aguilar were all reassigned.

Widener threw five innings in spring training giving up five earned runs while striking out eight batters. He went 6-7 with the Reno Aces last season.

Riley Smith spent time in both Double-A Jackson and Triple-A Reno last season after being drafted in 2016. He gave up one earned run in two innings pitched this spring, allowing three hits, striking out two and issuing one walk.

As one of the pieces in the trade that sent Zack Greinke to the Houston Astros, Beer enjoyed a .315 batting average and 12 RBIs in 73 at-bats in the Arizona Fall League. The 2018 first-round draft pick was just 3-for-17 in 10 games of Cactus League action with just one RBI.

Pavin Smith fared a little better in the Cactus League picking up eight hits in 21 at-bats good for a .381 batting average. He ended 2019 with the Double-A Jackson Generals.
