Phoenix Rising picked up right where it left off last season when it comes to regular-season accolades.
Forward Rufat Dadashov became the very first USL Championship Player of the Week on the 2020 campaign, the league announced on Tuesday.
Captain Solomon Asante was also named to Week 1’s Team of the Week.
After failing to score a single goal in the entirety of the preseason, Dadashov netted a hat trick in his Rising debut en route to a 6-1 victory over Portland Timbers 2 on Saturday.
Asante, the 2019 MVP, proved to be in form by getting on the scoresheet late in the match and providing two assists, both of which came on a Dadashov goal.
The 2019 Golden Boot winner set the USL single-season records for assists (17) and combined goals and assists (39) last year.

Rising returns to action on Saturday as Phoenix is away to face the Real Monarchs, who defeated PRFC 2-1 in last year’s Western Conference semifinal en route to winning the 2019 USL Championship Final.
Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. and will be audio-streamed on ArizonaSports.com.
