There could be a whole new meaning to “Gronk Smash.”
Former New England Patriots tight end and Arizona Wildcat Rob Gronkowski has inked a deal to join WWE and will debut March 20, reports The Wrap’s Tony Maglio.
Dean “Mojo Rawley” Muhtadi confirmed Friday that Gronkowski will join Friday Night Smackdown, though he said no deal has officially been signed.
Gronkowski is set to debut on FOX’s Smackdown and then on April 5 for WrestleMania 36 in Tampa, Fla., according to Maglio.
The news follows Wrestling Sheet’s Ryan Satin reporting on FS1 on Tuesday that the future Hall of Fame tight end wasΒ “in talks and close” to finalizing a deal.
It wouldn’t be Gronk’s first run-in with WWE, having made an appearance at WrestleMania 33 back in 2017.

As an NFL tight end, Gronkowski was an absolute bully to opposing defenses, catching 521 balls for 7,861 yards and 79 touchdowns over nine years of playing for New England. The 30-year-old was a second-round pick (42nd overall) by the Patriots in 2010 and won three Super Bowls with the team.
He appeared in two seasons in college at Arizona, catching 75 balls for 1,197 yards and 16 touchdowns in 2007 and 2008.
If the report is true, Gronk’s touchdown spike might be making a comeback.
