The Arizona Cardinals on Monday brought back two of their own free agents by re-signing defensive lineman Jonathan Bullard and safety Chris Banjo on one-year contracts.

Bullard was a pickup off waivers after 53-man roster cuts last September. A third-round pick by the Chicago Bears in 2016, Bullard appeared in nine games with Arizona in 2019 before a hamstring injury placed him on the injured reserve on Dec. 5.

After limited playing time in Week 1, Bullard played in more than 50% of the defensive snaps in all but one of the next seven games before he was hurt on Dec. 1 against the Los Angeles Rams.

The 6-foot-3, 296-pound Bullard finished 2019 with 22 tackles and 1.5 sacks with four tackles for loss.

He could be up for a starting role and compete with 2019 third-round draft pick Zach Allen for playing time alongside interior linemen Corey Peters and Jordan Phillips, the latter of whom agreed to a free agent deal with the Cardinals last week.

Arizona also has 2019 seventh-round pick Michael Dogbe and undrafted second-year pro Miles Brown adding depth.

Banjo signed with Arizona on Sept. 24 and played mostly as a special teams contributor, making seven tackles there.

He has 89 games of NFL experience and provides depth behind Pro Bowler Budda Baker as well as second-year pros Jalen Thompson and Deionte Thompson.
