Free agent nose tackle and Arizona Cardinals free agent Zach Kerr has agreed to join the Carolina Panthers, reports ESPN’s Field Yates.

Kerr played in 12 games for Arizona last season and recorded 19 tackles with two quarterback hits.

The 334-pound Kerr joined the Cardinals on Oct. 2, 2019, after the team released undrafted rookie Miles Brown in order to re-sign receiver Pharoh Cooper. Arizona later re-signed Brown but kept Kerr on board, using both as substitutes for starting tackle Corey Peters and sometimes playing the big men alongside one another.

Peters returns in 2020, and the Cardinals added starting tackle Jordan Phillips in free agency. Second-year pros Zach Allen, Michael Dogbe and Brown, plus re-signed veteran Jonathan Bullard also return to provide interior line depth.

Along with Kerr on the defense, the Cardinals are replacing defensive tackle Rodney Gunter (Jaguars), outside linebacker Cassius Marsh (Jaguars) and inside linebacker Joe Walker (49ers).

New additions within Arizona’s defensive front-seven include outside linebacker Devon Kennard and inside linebacker De’Vondre Campbell.

Kerr, 29, joins a Carolina team that also signed Cooper in free agency.
