The Phoenix Suns will have another NFL player take the controller on their behalf as the team plays out the rest of its NBA season in video game format.

Cardinals defensive back Byron Murphy will play as Phoenix in NBA 2K20 on Tuesday night against the Minnesota Vikings’ Irv Smith Jr., who is representing the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The game is on Twitch at 4 p.m., or fans can listen live to Jon Bloom and Tim Kempton calling the game at 6 p.m. on 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station.

Already, the Suns have had Murphy’s teammate, running back Chase Edmonds, play 2K for them. Edmonds beat Miami Dolphins defensive end Shaq Lawson in that game.

Former Cardinals DB Tony Jefferson also played as the Suns. He suffered a blowout loss, 102-59, to Chargers wideout Keenan Allen.

Current Suns players Mikal Bridges, Ty Jerome, Frank Kaminsky and Tariq Ownes, along with Rising FC’s Owusu-Ansah Kontor have also played. So have 2K gamers Antonio Saldivar and Curtis Lane.

Murphy, entering his second season in the NFL, started all 16 games for the Cardinals last year after being the team’s 33rd overall selection in the draft. The 22-year-old had one interception and 10 passes defensed to go along with 78 tackles, three for loss.

Smith Jr. is also coming off his rookie season, and is also a second-round pick. The tight end played all 16 games for Minnesota last season, starting seven, and recorded 311 yards with two touchdowns.
