WNBA success doesn’t always translate to success in NBA 2K20.
That was the case for Phoenix Mercury center Brittney Griner on Saturday night.
The Griner-led Phoenix Suns fell 60-39 to Seattle Storm’s Jewell Loyd, who was representing the Utah Jazz in the contest.
The two-time Defensive Player of the Year and six-time All-Star managed to only trail 32-25 at halftime, which included a shoutout to her favorite Suns player Kelly Oubre Jr.
“My man Oubre!” Griner shouted. “I love him. He is awesome.”

“He was going off this season, too,” Loyd said. “He was playing well.”
But Griner was unable to keep up, as Loyd pulled away in the second half to cruise to a 21-point victory.
“If you ever wanna get on again, you know where to find me,” Loyd told Griner after the game.
Other names to have previously represented the Suns in NBA 2K include Arizona Cardinals running back Chase Edmonds, the team’s own Frank Kaminsky and Phoenix Rising FC defender Owusu-Ansah Kontoh.
It should come as no surprise that Griner is missing the game of basketball during this unprecedented hiatus of all sports amid the coronavirus outbreak.
“I wore my jersey around the house,” Griner told Loyd during the game. “I almost put on the whole uniform. I just need something.”
The WNBA’s season, which was originally scheduled to start in mid-May, has been delayed amid the coronavirus outbreak.
However, the league will still hold a virtual draft on April 17.
