There are sure to be logistical hurdles for the NFL as it holds its first ever remote NFL Draft from Thursday to Saturday.
At the least, there will be technical problems to deal with — an internet router going dead or electricity being lost at one general manager’s home office.
So the NFL wanted to work through as many of those problems and procedures as possible by holding a mock draft on Monday. Well, it took less than one pick for problems to arise.
“Mock draft today already technical glitch w Cincinnatis 1st pick!!! Brutal,” an NFL mock draft participant texted ESPN’s Adam Schefter less than half an hour into the exercise.
It appears that someone thinks “band width” is a problem, according to ESPN’s Dianna Russini. Or maybe it’s just that nobody hit the mute button on a conference call of 32 lead executives, plus the league office.
Text from a GM during this mock draft “there are early communication issues because 32 of us GMs are on conference call and we didn’t hit mute. Sounds awful”

I was on the phone with a head coach talking about the mock draft today and he was losing his mind because his Internet went down…apparently his young children were all on their iPads using up the band width. “ everybody get off the Internet”-in loud dad voice.
I hung up.— Dianna Russini (@diannaESPN) April 20, 2020
It’s like phones have just been invented. Anyway, good luck to the GMs who have not been Zoom-initiated a month into the coronavirus-caused social distancing period.
Warning: Boomer jokes to follow:
“Hey were going to take Jeudy if he’s there, but let’s make them think we like Lamb”
“Sir, you’re not on mute”#NFLDraft

Very excited for a team to miss making a pick because their computer started automatically installing a Windows 10 Update.
