After locking in first-round selection Isaiah Simmons out of Clemson with the No. 8 pick, the Arizona Cardinals head into Day 2 of the 2020 NFL Draft with just one selection over two rounds.

But while the Cardinals only possess a third-round selection on Friday, that isn’t stopping Arizona GM Steve Keim from doing his due diligence and keeping his options open.

“Same thing [as last night], monitor this board, see if there’s any opportunities to move up, move back,” Keim told Doug & Wolf of Arizona Sports on Friday.

“We’ll certainly take those opportunities if it presents itself and take the best player available again.”

For Keim, it’s not about wheelin’ and dealin’ for the sake of making a move. The GM said he’s only going to pull the trigger if it’s a true fit for the organization moving forward.

Much like the Simmons pick on Thursday, which fills a glaring need for Arizona on defense, Keim is looking for the best talent available instead of simply filling a position of need.

“We have a lot of needs, so same thing as you look at the first pick. Everybody always has opinions. Do you take a tackle? Do you take a linebacker? Do you take a corner?” Keim said.

“The bottom line is we have a lot of needs and I felt like we took the best player on the board. Again, if you watched our defense last year, what did we struggle with? We struggled on chase plays, we struggled with tackling in space and we struggled covering tight ends. To me, this guy helps fix that.”
