Editor’s Note: Trey Wingo later corrected his error. We in Arizona appreciate it.

It’s been a long day, especially for national broadcasters who are wrapping up a three-day marathon of NFL news.

But mixing up Tucson and Tempe? Unacceptable.

Trey Wingo made that fateful mistake after Eno Benjamin was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals, saying the Arizona State running back will go “from Tucson to Phoenix.”

Tucson is a city in south Arizona that houses the Arizona Wildcats. Benjamin does not play in that city, unless you count the one time he did in which he rushed for 80 yards and three touchdowns on 21 carries.

Exactly 109.1 miles north of Tucson’s University of Arizona is Sun Devil Stadium, which is in Tempe. That’s where Benjamin did play college football. As a Sun Devil, he had two seasons with more than 1,000 rushing yards and broke the school record for single-season rushing yards.

He finished his career at Arizona State University, which, again, is located in Tempe, with 3,492 yards from scrimmage over three seasons.

We do have to give props to Wingo: It sounded like right after he said Phoenix, he corrected himself to say “Glendale, actually.”

So let’s review one last time: Benjamin, who played at ASU in Tempe, will not go from Tucson to Glendale, because he did not play for UA, which is in Tucson. Benjamin, who played at ASU in Tempe, will go from Tempe to Glendale.

On the plus side, at least nobody called them the “Arizona State Wildcats” or “Arizona Sun Devils” this time.
