The Arizona Cardinals, Cox Communications and State Farm donated computers and a year of free internet service to 150 students in the Roosevelt School District and Phoenix Elementary School District.

The donations were made after schools shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic and students were forced into virtual classrooms to close out the spring semester.

Cox and Roosevelt School District representatives presented the computers to 80 pre-qualified families at Valley View Leadership Academy on Wednesday. Seventy more will be given to students and their families in the Phoenix Elementary School District.

The donations were given to students who qualify for the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) or those who live in public housing.

“We at Cox thank the Arizona Cardinals and State Farm for joining us in our ongoing commitment to help connect kids so that they are able to learn from home,” said Susan Anable, Cox Communications wouthwest VP of public affairs. “As schools continue to find ways to educate kids outside the classroom, we don’t want to see kids get left behind just because their families can’t afford a computer and an internet connection in the home.”
