Cardinals’ Corey Peters starts virtual book club for high school students

Arizona Cardinals defensive lineman Corey Peters is giving high school students a chance to keep up with their education during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Peters has created a virtual book club that will meet weekly and is open to all Arizona high school students. The students will meet with Peters over Zoom virtual conference calls each week to discuss that week’s book.

“So we’ve been doing book club for a while now,” Peters said on the Big Red Rage Thursday. “Obviously, we’ve had to kind of cancel that with the things that are going on but this is an opportunity to kind of expand that program to more schools.

“This pandemic is actually providing an opportunity to kind of have more children from more schools and different areas to participate in our program.”

The club is through Peters’ foundation, the Peters Education Enrichment Project (PEEP). Founded in 2012, PEEP has had a focus on the importance of reading. Peters has previously hosted two different book clubs at schools in the Valley.
