Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury is among the top picks by oddsmakers for 2020 AP Coach of the Year.

Sportsbetting.ag released their odds for the bet, which put Patriots coach Bill Belichick and Buccaneers coach Bruce Arians tied atop the odds board at +1200.

Kingsbury was tied for fifth with reigning Super Bowl champion head coach Andy Reid, Browns coach Kevin Stefanski and Bills coach Sean McDermott at +1800 odds.

Dallas’ Mike McCarthy is third at +1400 and Indianapolis’ Frank Reich is fourth at +1600.

The logic for betting on Kingsbury could be seen as two-fold.

The Cardinals, who won five games with a rookie coach and quarterback in 2019, vastly improved their roster this offseason. In the realm of defense, the addition of starting players at inside linebacker, outside linebacker and defensive line ought to help out defensive coordinator Vance Joseph tremendously.

Second, Arizona hopes to reap the benefits of having Kyler Murray take steps forward in his second season. The cancellation of offseason activity won’t help that, but the anecdotal evidence with the likes of Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson should be promising.

In April, Bovada put Kingsbury at +1800 odds to win the award. That put him tied for sixth behind Belichick (+650), Arians (+1200), Kyle Shanahan (+1600), Brian Flores (+1600) and Stefanski (+1600).

Last season, Baltimore’s John Harbaugh was the AP Coach of the Year winner with the aforementioned Jackson in his second season.
