Suns rookie Cam Johnson donates meals to families back home

Phoenix Suns rookie Cam Johnson spent Thursday handing out Chick-fil-A to families in need who attend an elementary school in his native Moon Township, Penn.
Johnson’s mother, who is a school nurse, gave him the idea.
“She was telling me about the food dropoff they have on Thursdays,” Johnson said, according to TribLive.com. “A lot of it is for those who are on reduced/free breakfast and lunch during the school year. Obviously, with those kids being home now, it puts more pressure on the parents to feed them, on top of of the economic pressure the virus presents.
“So, with that in mind, along with the challenge for the kids to switch up their learning to online to finish the school year, I just thought it would be nice to give them a little extra-warm food.”

Johnson handed out 12 bags of chicken sandwiches, nuggets and chips to families, according to TribLive.com.
The 6-foot-8 forward attended nearby Moon Area High School for two years before transferring to Our Lady of the Sacred Heart. He played his college ball at Pittsburgh before transferring to North Carolina and becoming the 11th overall draft pick in 2019.
As a rookie with Phoenix, Johnson averaged 8.1 points, 2.9 rebounds and shot 39.7% from three-point range.
