The Arizona Diamondbacks released some minor league players in May, and among them were veteran pitcher Edwin Jackson and outfielder Travis Snider.

The releases were displayed on the Pacific Coast League transactions page, which showed that the Reno Aces had released 12 players combined on May 22 and 28.

Jackson was vying to play in the majors with the D-backs for a second time after having done so in 2010 and throwing a no-hitter. Jackson has played for 14 MLB franchises but the 36-year-old had a 16.20 ERA in five spring training outings this year.

Snider was the 14th overall pick by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2006 and has since played 630 MLB games with the Blue Jays, Pittsburgh Pirates and Baltimore Orioles.

Also among the cuts was Visalia Rawhide outfielder Anfernee Grier. Grier was the 39th overall pick by the D-backs in the 2016 draft. He hit .229 with Visalia last season to go with nine home runs, 46 RBIs and 131 strikeouts.

Teams have cut minor league players as a 2020 minor league season is in doubt because of the coronavirus pandemic. Some players likely would have been released anyway as teams trim their organization year to year, but teams are also feeling budgetary limitations because of lost revenue from the delayed 2020 season.

The transactions pages from the Southern, California, Midwest, Northwest and Pioneer Leagues showed which players the D-backs’ other minor league affiliates released. Here’s a list:
