UFC fighter Jon Jones, Chandler’s brother, takes away spray paint cans

Jun 1, 2020, 2:40 PM | Updated: 8:24 pm

Mixed martial arts fighter Jon Jones posted a video to his Instagram late Sunday night that showed him taking away cans of spray paint from demonstrators.

CNN said the incident was in Albuquerque, N.M., which is where Jones lives.

Jones’ brother Chandler is the All-Pro outside linebacker on the Arizona Cardinals.

“Is this [expletive] even about George Floyd anymore?” Jon Jones wrote in his Instagram post (warning: explicit language). “As a young black man trust me I’m frustrated as well but this is not the way, we are starting to make a bad situation worse.”

Jones could be heard telling the people, “Give me the spray can,” as they reluctantly gave up the tools that have been used for graffiti in cities across the country.

Throughout the U.S. this weekend, there were mass protests against systematic racism and injustice for minority groups in the wake of the death of George Floyd. Floyd died in police custody in Minneapolis, Minn., where bystanders recorded video of a police officer kneeling on Floyd’s neck.

The protests have started and sometimes remained peaceful, but often turned violent while rioters took the moment as a chance to destroy property and loot stores of their merchandise. In Scottsdale, the popular Fashion Center was vandalized and looters broke into storefronts. Similar scenes played out in other cities.
