Arizona Cardinals undrafted rookie receiver Jermiah Lamont Braswell was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated in Put-In-Bay, Ohio, after driving his Camaro into the waters of Lake Erie, police said.
Braswell was found in the driver’s seat of the car trying to drive forward and told officers he was stuck and didn’t know what happened.
Witnesses told officers the Camaro was driving at a high rate of speed when it flew off the embankment and into the lake around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Authorities noted Braswell’s speech was slurred and he couldn’t explain how his Camaro ended up in the water.
A test determined his blood alcohol content exceeded Ohio’s limit, police said.
Nobody else was in the vehicle at the time of the crash and no others were injured.
Prior to joining the Cardinals in May, Braswell played at Youngstown State, securing 11 touchdowns with 986 yards in 40 games played across four seasons at the school.
