Bears QB Mitch Trubisky trends for all the wrong reasons

Mitchell Trubisky did not do anything to deserve this.
It is not his fault that the Chicago Bears moved up to select him No. 2 overall in the 2017 NFL Draft. It’s not his fault for being competent and possibly even good enough to be a first-round pick as a college quarterback.
It is not his fault that the Cleveland Browns took Myles Garrett and not another quarterback such as Patrick Mahomes or Deshaun Watson with the No. 1 overall pick in that draft.
It is also not Trubisky’s fault that Mahomes earning a reported $450 million deal over the next 12 seasons made people think more about poor Mitch once they got over how rich Mahomes will be in the near future.
Alas, that is where the poor Bears quarterback finds himself this fine Monday.
Trubisky has gone 23-18 as a starting NFL quarterback. Not bad!
He has completed 63% of his passes and thrown 48 touchdowns to 29 interceptions in his three seasons in the league so far. He is competent!
But also he is on a team that whiffed when expectations rose in the past two years. This offseason, Chicago brought in veteran Nick Foles and his relatively big contract to compete with Trubisky for the starting job. Not good news for our boy, Mitch!
Is he necessarily bad? Watch the tape and the answer is a likely yes.
But it hasn’t helped whatsoever that Mahomes and Watson are long-term stars in this league who went No. 10 and 12 in the same draft as Mr. Trubisky.
The internet does not feel sorry for Mitchell. It does not care that Bears GM Ryan Pace should be trending instead.
Mitch Trubisky will be a meme until he’s able to be a little bit closer to average.
trubisky really is the sam bowie of 2017. which, honestly, isn't fair to sam bowie.
