Arizona Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald is not only chasing Jerry Rice’s all-time record for receptions, he is also chasing him at the American Century Championship leaderboard in Tahoe.

The two NFL legends were matched in the same grouping for Saturday’s action, along with guard Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors.

Fitzgerald began the day trailing Rice by 10 points as Curry led the entire trio with 14 points.

Players gain or lose points depending on if they par, birdie or bogey a hole. Unlike typical golf scores, the player with the most points wins.

This isn’t Fitzgerald’s first rodeo into the realm of golf. In 2018, he won the Pebble Beach Pro-Am by seven strokes. He would go on to win the event again this February beating Rice’s former quarterback Steve Young by five strokes.

In terms of football, Fitzgerald needs 172 more catches to pass Rice as the NFL’s all-time leader in receptions.

Curry came into the tournament as the odds-on favorite to win. He started the day in eighth place.

Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson is also celebrating his 30th birthday by participating in the tournament. He began Day 2 with seven points.

Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Kyle Williams was leading the field with a score of 43.
