The Phoenix Suns will catch somewhat of a break in their quest to remain perfect in the Orlando bubble on Monday against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
According to the league’s official injury report, the Thunder have ruled out starting forward Danilo Gallinari (ankle), starting guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (calf contusion), starting center Steven Adams (lower leg contusion) and backup center Nerlens Noel (ankle). Oklahoma City also remains without guard Dennis Schroder, who is not with the team in the bubble for personal reasons.
The Thunder are finishing up a back-to-back. On Sunday, they beat the bubble’s winless Washington Wizards, 121-103.
Gilgeous-Alexander and Gallinari played in that game and started along with point guard Chris Paul, defense-first rookie guard Lu Dort, an Arizona State product, and stretch big Mike Muscala.
Against the Suns on Monday, expect guard Hamidou Diallo plus wings Abdel Nader, Darius Bazley and Terrance Ferguson to eat up much of the playing time with Gallinari, Gilgeous-Alexander and the two rotation centers sitting out.
Oklahoma City remains a half-game ahead of the Utah Jazz and in fifth place in the Western Conference standings. It is a full game behind the Houston Rockets.
Meanwhile, Phoenix listed backup center Aron Baynes and backup guard Elie Okobo out with forward Kelly Oubre Jr doubtful to play
The Suns enter the day a full game out of the No. 9 spot in the Western Conference standings. They are the only team that won its first five games in the Disney World bubble.
