Quarterback Kelly Bryant, who played for national champion contending teams at Clemson before transferring to Missouri, will work out for the Arizona Cardinals, reports NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

A look at the prospect was made possible by the NFL lifting a tryout ban on Tuesday, Pelissero added.

Bryant took over for current Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson as Clemson’s starter during a 12-2 season in 2017, putting up 2,802 yards with 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He completed 66% of his passes and added 665 rushing yards as the Tigers made the College Football Playoff as the top seed but lost to No. 4 Alabama in the semifinals.

Bryant was the starter for the first four games of Clemson’s 2019 championship run but lost his starting job to then-freshman Trevor Lawrence, who by many draft analysts is projected to go first overall in the 2021 draft.

After transferring to Missouri, Bryant earned the starting role and passed for 2,215 yards, 15 touchdowns and six picks in 2019.

The Cardinals had three quarterbacks on their training camp roster as on-field workouts at State Farm Stadium began on Wednesday: starter Kyler Murray, backup Brett Hundley and Canadian Football League product Chris Streveler.

With the first two players on the depth chart appearing locked in place, Streveler could challenge for a roster spot as a gadget quarterback with the athleticism to rush the ball in certain packages.
