Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is officially back at Cardinals camp.

Hopkins had left hamstring tightness and was held out of practice since Sunday as a precaution, but head coach Kliff Kingsbury said he was working out and the team hoped to have him back soon.

With the team starting practices with full pads on Monday, Wednesday marked the first practice for Hopkins in pads where he participated in warmups and individual drills.

“It’s definitely a positive,” Kingsbury said. “He’s been champing at the bit to get back out there. We’re going to be smart, bring him along slowly.

“Today was a good start and we’re going to ease him back into it.”

A rumor had popped up on a Cardinals blog asking if Hopkins was holding out of training camp to get his contract restructured, which the Houston media quickly jumped on. The Houston Texans had reportedly traded Hopkins because he wanted just that.

The wide receiver quickly dismissed those allegations on Twitter Tuesday.

With the absence of preseason games and the start of the season rapidly approaching, the team is taking a precautious approach to any injury.

Last season for the Houston Texans, Hopkins was tied for third in the NFL with 104 receptions.

He had 1,165 receiving yards and seven touchdowns before being traded to Arizona in exchange for running back David Johnson. The teams also exchanged draft picks in the deal.
