The Arizona Cardinals, who have already made at least one move to add depth in the wake of an injury to Robert Alford, are reportedly hosting another cornerback for a visit.

Former Bengals cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick is visiting with the Cardinals, according to ESPN’s Field Yates.

Arizona Sports’ John Gambadoro added, “This is definitely the guy the Cards want.”

After Alford went down with a torn pectoral muscle that will keep him out for most or all of the 2020 season, it was reported that the Cardinals would sign Ken Crawley. The team announced on Friday that they had also signed B.W. Webb, another former Bengals corner.

Alford already missed all of last season with a leg injury. The new guys aside, Arizona also has Chris Jones and Kevin Peterson as depth to play corner opposite Patrick Peterson. Second-year pro Byron Murphy could line up there, too, or play in the slot if the Cardinals find a suitable option out on the perimeter.

Kirkpatrick was a highly productive player from 2015 to 2017 for Cincinnati, playing in 45 games over those two seasons and making four interceptions for 122 yards to go with one forced fumble, a fumble recovery and a sack.

He played in only six games last year with 33 tackles before going on IR with a hyperextended knee.

Cardinals defensive coordinator Vance Joseph worked with Kirkpatrick as the Bengals’ defensive backs coach in 2014 and 2015.

Kirkpatrick was a first-round pick (17th overall) in the 2012 NFL Draft out of Alabama.
