Grand Canyon University basketball announced Wednesday its 2020-21 fall schedule, which is subject to change because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Already, the Western Athletic Conference — GCU’s conference — postponed fall sports. Different sports were affected in different ways, and basketball specifically was postponed through the end of October.

Therefore, the first game on GCU’s schedule announced Wednesday is on Nov. 10 against Embry-Riddle (Ariz.).

A game on Dec. 13 against ASU was canceled because of the Pac-12’s decision to delay fall sports competitions to next year.

This season will be the first under new head coach Bryce Drew, who took over the vacancy left by the dismissal of the previous head coach, Dan Majerle.

“We have some really great home games from a fan perspective,” Drew said in a statement. “Those are really great opportunities for our home fans and our team.

“There will be great challenges. We have returners who have some experience. Hopefully, they’ll set a great tone for our younger guys as we get closer to that tough nonconference competition.”
