ESPN analyst Jaworski says Cards should take Floyd if available

The Arizona Cardinals are set to pick 13th in the NFL
Draft, and if Notre Dame receiver Michael Floyd is
available to them, they should rush the pick to the
podium.

At least, that’s how ESPN NFL analyst Ron Jaworski feels.

“Michael Floyd without a doubt,” he told Arizona Sports
620’s Burns and Gambo when asked who they should draft.
“When you look at a Michael Floyd, I’ve got him as the
best receiver in this draft.”

Jaworski rates Floyd higher than Oklahoma State’s Justin
Blackmon, who most project to be the first receiver off
the board.

At 6-foot-3, 220 pounds, Floyd has prototypical size for
the position. He ran a 4.47 40-yard dash at the NFL
Scouting Combine, and was productive throughout his four
years in South Bend.

“I think Michael Floyd is a tremendous football player,”
Jaworski added, noting that he would be paired with Larry
Fitzgerald in Arizona. “You have a dynamic duo at the wide
receiver spot that could be outstanding.

“I’m a huge Michael Floyd guy.”

Of course, it’s all moot if Floyd is taken prior to the
Cardinals’ selection. If he’s as good as many experts
think he is, chances are he will be.

But if not, the Cardinals could find themselves the number
two receiver they’ve lacked since trading Anquan Boldin.

“As good as Larry’s playing, can you imagine an
outstanding complimentary receiver who’s going to get the
single coverage,” Jaworski said. “Because people are still
going to roll their coverage to Larry.

“You give him a guy that they’re going to have to at least
roll the coverage to once in a while and give Larry some
one-on-ones, oh man, Larry will be salivating.”
