The Arizona Cardinals are signing CB Jace Whittaker to the practice squad, according to ESPN’s Josh Weinfuss.
Whittaker was part of the cuts from the team on Saturday to trim the roster to 53.
The undrafted free agent out of Arizona was a practice squad target for the team after an impressive camp where he earned praise from teammates, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.
Whittaker recorded seven interceptions and 137 tackles in 49 games with the Wildcats during his college career.
The Cardinals cornerback room consists of Patrick Peterson, Byron Murphy Jr. and Kevin Peterson, all of whom return from last year’s roster, and Dre Kirkpatrick, who signed with the team on Aug. 23.
Cornerbacks Chris Jones and Ken Crawley were also waived with Whittaker on Saturday.
