It appears the Phoenix Suns will have to wait a little bit longer before making their draft choice this season.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, “the league has informed teams of a potential revised 2020 NBA Draft date of November 18.”

The potential plan to move the draft date further down the calendar gives teams additional time for “pre-draft prep and a combine, more time to gather information on the potential start date for next season and the advancing of talks with the NBPA on CBA matters,” Wojnarowski reported. Next season’s salary cap was also a factor.

Both the NBA and NBPA have been negotiating on the date change, Wojnarowski said.

The plan will be further discussed at the Board of Governors meeting this week and could be finalized soon, Wojnarowski added.

The NBA Draft was originally slated for June 25 before the coronavirus threw a wrench in the NBA’s regular season. The draft was then moved back to Oct. 16, with free agency officially beginning Oct. 18.

The Suns hold the No. 10 pick in the first round of the upcoming draft.
