Selling stability at the quarterback position has gone a long way for the Arizona State Sun Devils, and a run of successfully recruiting offensive weapons continued Friday with the commitment of 2021 4-star receiver Dominic Lovett.

He joins a class of 21 players that is ranked 18th in college football, according to 247 Sports’ evaluations. The service’s composite rankings has Lovett, a 5-foot-10 and 175-pound receiver out of East St. Louis High School, as the third-ranked player out of Illinois.

Lovett is the 304th-ranked player in 247 Sports’ composite.

He joins fellow 4-star receiver Junior Alexander as part of ASU head coach Herm Edwards’ 2021 class.

The 2020 class of Sun Devils already added depth to the receiver corps that rising sophomore quarterback Jayden Daniels could be throwing to whenever ASU steps onto the football field next. Chad Johnson Jr., Johnny Wilson and L.V. Bunkley-Shelton are 4-star receivers who were members of this year’s recruiting class.

“(ASU offensive coordinator Zak Hill) told me they would use me the same way that the Chiefs use Tyreek Hill so I liked the sound of that,” Lovett told SunDevilSource.com. “(Assistant recruiting coordinator and assistant coach Prentice Gill), he’s a very chill soul. He’s very hyped when it comes to football and I like that. That means he’s about his business. He’s ready to get to the football season, so I like him.

“We got on a Zoom call with Herm, he was pretty hyped. We didn’t really talk football that much, it was more just getting to know him a little and him being hyped to have me on the call.”

Arizona State’s 2021 class ranks third in the Pac-12, behind the Oregon Ducks (No. 3) and USC Trojans (No. 10).
