After the San Francisco 49ers made a field goal near the end of the second half of their eventual 24-20 loss Sunday, the Arizona Cardinals got the ball back with 30 seconds to go.

That was just enough time to advance the ball just far enough for kicker Zane Gonzalez to hit a 56-yard field goal, the longest of his career, and send Arizona into the break down 13-10.

He got an assist from wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald.

Running back Chase Edmonds opened the drive with a 20-yard run and got out of bounds. The Cardinals were then forced to call timeout after their next two plays, putting them at the 43-yard line with 13 seconds and no timeouts.

Quarterback Kyler Murray completed his pass to DeAndre Hopkins for a short gain, and Fitzgerald sprinted over to take the ball and get it to the center to set up a spike by Murray.

They stopped the clock with two seconds to spare.

Gonzalez stepped up for the 56-yard field goal.

He had missed a 52-yarder earlier in the game, but this one was straight down the middle.

The Cardinals’ offense was not as productive as that of the 49ers in the first half, but a blocked punt and Gonzalez’s field goal helped them keep the score close at halftime.
