The San Francisco 49ers issued a statement Tuesday after Arizona Cardinals safety Budda Baker posted a screenshot of racist messages he received from a 49ers fan on Instagram.
In the statement, the 49ers said they are making an effort to identify the fan with the handle “niners8,” and after doing so, will ban the individual from all games and events.

Baker tweeted (warning: explicit language) of the messages: “Im all good with opposing fans talking trash. But This right here man… All you can do is pray for ppl like this.”
The fan’s racist messages claimed that Baker intentionally went low while tackling 49ers All-Pro tight end George Kittle.
In the late second quarter, Baker made the hit as Kittle was jumping and extending high in the air to catch a pass.

Kittle came up hobbled on the play and stayed in the game for the second half but was not targeted the rest of the way. He was assessed with a knee sprain on Monday.
Baker had a team-high 15 tackles in the Cardinals’ 24-20 win.
