Diamondbacks and Kelly Johnson avoid arbitration

The Arizona Diamondbacks avoided arbitration with infielder Kelly Johnson on Tuesday. The two sides agreed on a one-year contract according to team General Manager Kevin Towers.
The 28-year-old Johnson his .284 with 93 runs, 26 home runs and 71 RBI in 154 games last season. His home run and RBI totals were career highs and his 36 doubles were a franchise record for second basemen.
Prior to joining the D-backs in 2010, Johnson played for the Atlanta Braves where he hit .264 with 45 home runs and 206 RBI over parts of four seasons.
