As a few NFL teams begin to open the gates of their stadiums to fans, don’t expect to see any action in the stands Sunday at State Farm Stadium as the Arizona Cardinals face the Washington Football Team.

In addition to not having fans in attendance for the first two home games, the Cardinals will be closing car parks and the Great Lawn, meaning fans cannot tailgate at the stadium.

The team is following guidelines created by the state for slowing the coronavirus pandemic, which currently restricts large gatherings.

Though the same restrictions will also be in effect for the Week 3 home game against the Detroit Lions, the team is not ruling out fans for the rest of the season. Team officials stated they hope to work with the state to determine when fans can be welcomed back safely.

Last week was the Cardinals’ first game in an empty stadium, but it didn’t phase the team as they came back in the fourth quarter to seal a 24-20 win over the 2019 NFC Champion San Francisco 49ers.

Catch all the action between the Cardinals and Washington Football Team Sunday on 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station. Coverage begins at 10 a.m. and kickoff is 1:05 p.m.
