Arizona Sports NFL Power Rankings Week 3: Little change at the top

It was another wacky week in the NFL that featured a couple of great games and, unfortunately, a devastating list of team-changing injuries.

After the action, it’s the Kansas City Chiefs, last year’s Super Bowl champs, still reigning supreme. Their Week 2 win over the Chargers at SoFi Stadium was probably harder than it should have been, but Patrick Mahomes scrambling for 21 yards on 3rd-and-20 late in the fourth quarter allowed KC to send the game to overtime, and Harrison Butker won it with a 58-yard boot in the extra period.

The Baltimore Ravens, Seattle Seahawks, Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers round out the top five, with the Arizona Cardinals and Las Vegas Raiders entering the top 10.

Harrison Butker could run for Mayor of Kansas City and win (as long as he wasn’t running against Mahomes).

2. Baltimore Ravens (2-0)
Movement: —
Trying to stop their running game is a nightmare for defensive coordinators.

3. Seattle Seahawks (2-0)
Movement ▲4
Russell Wilson has nine touchdown passes and 11 incompletions through two weeks. Discuss.

4. Pittsburgh Steelers (2-0)
Movement: ▲1
Not only is Big Ben back, but with Smith-Schuster, Johnson and Claypool, he’s got weapons to throw to.

5. Green Bay Packers (2-0)
Movement: ▲1
A very good team powered by the Aarons (Rodgers and Jones).

6. Buffalo Bills (2-0)
Movement: —
Josh Allen threw for 144 yards and two touchdowns on two fourth-quarter scoring drives.

7. Los Angeles Rams (2-0)
Movement: ▲2
Reports of the Rams’ demise were a little premature.

8. Tennessee Titans (2-0)
Movement: ▲2
Week 2 was tighter than it should have been, but Harold Landry saved the day with a late pick.

9. Arizona Cardinals (2-0)

Kyler Murray is downright frightening in open space. Ask Troy Apke.

Darren Waller is a handful.

11. San Francisco 49ers (1-1)

The amount of injuries they’ve had through two weeks is almost criminal.

12. New England Patriots (1-1)

Great game, tough loss in Seattle.

The overreaction crowd is suggesting Drew Brees might be done. Nonsense!

Not sure how they got down 20 to Atlanta, but give ’em some credit for an amazing comeback win.

Their record may be more indicative of their schedule than anything else, but Trubisky has five touchdown tosses through two weeks.

I’m guessing Anthony Lynn wishes he would have gone for it on 4th-and-1 in overtime. Just guessing.

Is the Colts’ defense that good, or the Vikings’ offense that bad?

A big jump for the Browns, but only because nobody underneath them has really shown signs of life.

Pretty telling that the Dolphins couldn’t sell out 13,000 tickets.

Rough early schedule takes them to Pittsburgh in Week 3.

Horrible defense. Horrible special teams (at least on fielding onside kicks). Embarrassing loss.

When Kirk Cousins is bad, there are few worse.

Rough loss in Pittsburgh coupled with injuries to Drew Lock and Courtland Sutton. Ouch.

They better hope Christian McCaffrey is a quick healer, or this could get ugly.

Stayed tough in Chicago despite the loss of Saquon Barkley.

The Lions are the most generous team in the league when it comes to giving up leads. They’ve squandered double-digit leads in four straight.

They’re not good, but at least they have Joe Burrow.

Calling them a dumpster fire would be an insult to dumpsters and fire.
