Former Phoenix Suns superstar Charles Barkley donated $50,000 to Mom’s Pantry Food Bank of Phoenix this week.

Barkley, who currently works as an NBA studio analyst with TNT, donated enough money to help the nonprofit serve upwards of 1,600 people.

Mom’s Pantry executive director Pam Trudeau expressed her gratitude for Barkley’s donation in a statement.

“Words can’t express how excited we are to receive a gift of this magnitude from Mr. Barkley,” Trudeau said in the statement. “Mr. Barkley’s donation will help provide food for thousands of people including veterans, retired folks, single moms, homeless and those struggling with job loss or high medical bills. We can’t thank him enough for his generosity to our families especially during these times.”

Mom’s Pantry, which is located at 13440 N. Cave Creek Road in Phoenix, has seen a surge in demand for its services during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The nonprofit reports handing out more than 360,000 pounds of food to more than 35,000 people.

Anyone that wants to join Barkley in donating to the food bank can do so by visiting the nonprofit’s site.
