New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton managed to incorporate the late Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther persona into his game cleats this week.
Newton, playing in his first season with the Patriots after nine years in Carolina, blended his own Superman mantra with Boseman’s famous superhero role. Boseman passed away from cancer on Aug. 28 at the age of 43.

Newton is known for his fashion flair, wearing exuberant threads since he entered the league in 2011.
So far this season, Newton has thrown for 552 yards and a touchdown in two starts, adding 122 yards and four touchdowns on the ground.
The Heisman Trophy winner will look for an extra boost wherever he can get it, as the Patriots (1-1) host the Las Vegas Raiders (2-0) at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
