Arizona Cardinals safety Chris Banjo is questionable to return in Sunday’s game against the Detriot Lions due to a hamstring injury.

Safety Deionte Thompson took the place of Banjo for the rest of the first half after Banjo exited. Earlier in the game, Banjo intercepted a pass from Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford, but that was called back due to a holding penalty on Cardinals cornerback Byron Murphy.

Banjo was originally replacing starting safety Jalen Thompson, who was placed on injured reserve after Arizona’s Week 1 win with an ankle injury. Banjo had six tackles against the San Francisco 49ers and another nine in Week 2 versus the Washington Football Team.

The 30-year-old has been a special teams player for the majority of his NFL career, making only two starts in 89 career games prior to the 2020 season. He doubled that total for the Cardinals this season.

Arizona also has tight end Maxx Williams joining Thompson on injured reserve and was missing other starters in wideout Christian Kirk (groin) and center Mason Cole (hamstring) due to injury on Sunday.
