Quarterback Kyler Murray threw three interceptions, and the Cardinals defense couldn’t make a stand in the final five minutes as the Detroit Lions drove to set up Matt Prater for a game-winning 39-yard field goal to hand Arizona its first loss.

The Lions and Cardinals traded scoring until Arizona, which fell 26-23 at State Farm Stadium, took a 23-20 lead on Andy Isabella’s second touchdown catch of the day at the end of the third quarter.

A three-and-out by Arizona on its next possession led to a punt from the Cardinals’ own end zone, and a 19-yard return set up a short field for Detroit. Prater kicked a 35-yard field goal with 6:49 left in the game to tie it, and the Lions got the ball back after another Cardinals possession sputtered.

With two minutes left, Lions quarterback Matt Stafford dropped a deep ball into the arms of Marvin Hall for a 52-yard gain, seemingly giving the Lions the ball at Arizona’s 1-yard line. A holding on Detroit offensive tackle Halapoulivaati Vaitai negated what could have set up the deciding score.

But the Cardinals gave the Lions a first down on 2nd-and-15 with a holding call on defensive back Byron Murphy the very next play.

The drive stayed alive, and Prater hit his field goal as time expired to close a 10-play, 70-yard drive.

Murray finished 23-of-35 for 270 passing yards, two touchdowns and the three picks. He added a rushing touchdown with five carries for 29 yards.

Receiver DeAndre Hopkins was the main target for Murray, pulling in 10 catches for 137 yards.
